Challenge

 

Coração Delta was born from a singular belief: that an organisation can only exist if it genuinely exists for others.

Inspired by Rui Nabeiro’s words - “the whole community fits inside my heart” - the association grew from an internal initiative into a complex social organisation, active across education, health, social innovation, sport, volunteering and community development.

But time moved faster than the brand.

While Coração Delta had evolved into a professional, dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, its identity no longer reflected that reality. The perception was static and dated, at odds with an organisation that had been expanding in scale, structure and impact for nearly 20 years.

At a time when social organisations are expected to be as clear, credible and strategic as any corporate entity, Coração Delta faced a crucial question:

How to modernise without losing its soul?

The challenge was not to reinvent purpose, but to translate it into a contemporary brand system that could:

•  honour Rui Nabeiro’s legacy without freezing it in time;

•  express the collective nature of the organisation;

•  support multiple projects and future growth;

•  and position Coração Delta as a modern, relevant and credible social institution.

Work

At Wonder\Why, we began exactly where the story began: the heart.

Symbol. We reimagined the heart not as a closed symbol, but as an expanding movement. A heart that grows, beats, multiplies and connects. A heart made of many, rather than one.

Founding insight. Rui Nabeiro’s epic words, “the whole community fits inside my heart”, became the strategic and creative core of the rebrand. Not as a metaphor, but as a living system.

Identity system. Built from multiple visual elements that come together to form a collective heart - flexible, plural and in constant motion. Each shape represents people, projects and areas of action, allowing the brand to expand organically without losing coherence.

 

This approach enabled Coração Delta to:

•  create a modular brand system, adaptable across diverse initiatives and future programmes;

•  express its values through colour, rhythm and movement, rather than institutional rigidity;

•  and clearly state its positioning through a simple but powerful signature: “Open to all.”

More than a visual transformation, the rebrand aligned identity with reality. It translated a deeply human philosophy into a contemporary brand language - one capable of carrying legacy forward, rather than holding it still.

Today, Coração Delta is no longer represented by a single heart. It is a collective heart - universal, timeless, plural and still growing.
